The College Interview-Be Yourself

I’m sure the thought of college interviews makes some of you break into a sweat, am I right? You might be worried that if the interview doesn’t go well , that you won’t be admitted and you’ll need to come up with a new plan. Or maybe you are worried that you won’t stand out against other applicants. I understand! Interviews can be very nerve wracking. Let’s see if I can make it easier for you…

Remember that when you interview at a school it is very important that you be yourself! When you try to be someone else it just creates extra stress, and who needs that!? Don’t you want to go to a school that will be perfect for you? Don’t you want the school to want you? If you don’t show the admissions reps who you are, then there will be several problems. First, you won’t come across as real. Believe me, people can tell when you are putting on an act and it’s not something they are looking for. Second, most colleges are looking for all different types of people. When you are too afraid to talk about the real you, then you might be leaving out something that they really like. Third, you may end up at a school that isn’t right for you. You need to realize that you aren’t the only one being interviewed. The college interview is a chance for you, the potential student to get a feel for the school. When you are being yourself you’ll be much better able to tell if that school is for you. When you are excited about a school and the school is excited about you, now that’s the best fit of all.
